Ando tão desligado da televisão ultimamente que só agora há pouco, durante o Fantástico (curto por causa do Carnaval), fiquei sabendo que a entrega do Oscar era hoje…

Felizmente a entrega do prêmio é no Domingo de Carnaval. Assim dá para dormir mais amanhã cedo (que é um daqueles feriados que não são feriados)…

Como se pode ver, Quem Quer Ser um Milionário? (Slumdog Millionaire), indicado para dez Oscars, acabou ganhando a competição contra O Curioso Caso de Benjamin Button (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), indicado para treze Oscars: ganhou mais Oscars e Oscars mais importantes (inclusive Melhor Filme e Melhor Diretor). Minha preferência, porém, era por Benjamin Button. Mas é bom ver a participação bem sucedida da Índia num filme de primeira linha.

Fiquei muito contente com dois Oscars. Primeiro, o de Penelope Cruz na categoria Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante. Ela está magnífica em Vicky Cristina Barcelona: ofuscou minha “ídola” Scarlett Johansson. Segundo, o de Kate Winslet, na categoria Melhor Atriz, pelo filme O Leitor (The Reader). Ela é sempre excelente.

Apesar de ter gostado do Oscar de Kate Winslet, eu também teria adorado se Meryl Streep tivesse ganho o Oscar de Melhor Atriz. Indicada pela décima quinta vez (um record), Meryl Streep merece qualquer Oscar que ainda vier para ela (apesar de já ter ganho dois).

Fiquei triste de Brad Pitt não ter ganho na categoria Melhor Ator, pelo filme O Curioso Caso de Benjamin Button (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).

Por fim, uma palavra sobre a produção do show. Foi de longe o melhor Oscar, ever. Os múltiplos cenários estavam magníficos. Mas a melhor inovação foi o procedimento para indicar os melhores nas categorias de Melhor Atriz e Melhor Ator. Cinco ganhadores nessas categorias fizeram um breve resumo da biografia dos cinco indicados. Ficou excepcional. Por fim, a apresentação foi competente, profissional, séria e discreta: o australiano Hugh Jackman foi um apresentador de primeira, não um aprendiz de palhaço, como alguns apresentadores de outras vezes.
